The main focus of my role as creative director in Basic Studio has been to communicate the value of brands through design. Basic Studio was born under the opportunity to work in a broader field of clients and industries in different design areas: branding, illustration, and web design.
In Basic, we worked in internal communication with clients such as corporate and concept development, naming, and branding for boutique brands. We had the opportunity to work on projects with clients such as Orange Investments, UDEM (Universidad de Monterrey), HBO Latino, and DiDi.
From a design perspective, my main contribution in this project was as creative design director. Though, as a partner and founder of the studio, my responsibilities were extended to the sales and management area. Some of my tasks are:
As an art director, I have grown to become the link between the design team and the final output presented to the client. My participation in most of the projects in this creative team has been about correcting, directing, and developing visual concepts for advertising campaigns for digital media.
The importance of my participation lies in leading a constant communication process while maintaining brand values. Within this process, I need to recognize the skills of each team member and thus optimize the administration of tasks within the work team. Visual concepts development starts my involvement as an art director, which evolves to the direction, development, and presentation of products.
Being a senior designer, I was responsible for developing integral projects from its initial phase of briefing, conceptualization, execution, and production. I had the opportunity to work with national and international clients in branding projects, of which some of them were fortunate to be published in digital and print media.
My practice was focused mainly in the area of branding, in which I developed brand strategies and built the visual language for both new and existing brands. Beyond my duties as a senior designer, some of my responsibilities were:
As a member of the design team, I principally collaborated in the execution of graphics focused on print and branding projects. The majority of the projects centered on the development of emerging projects that lacked any visual communication; this allowed us to propose and define the general aesthetics of each project.
My design career started in Danilo Black as a web design trainee. Further, according to my growth and experience in the company, I became involved in projects of more significant importance until I started working as a web designer. At this time, my soft-skills learning was remarkably important; I understand the importance of teamwork, leadership, task management, and adaptability.
My first approach to the design working environment was in UI and digital design for corporate clients. Some of them being: Banorte, Coppel, UDEM (Universidad de Monterrey) and ITESO.
"Surface Design" workshop at the Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, California).
The objective of the workshop consisted of the exploration of printed patterns and textures. The abstraction of complex images and illustration were the main skills to be developed.
Graduated in Graphic Design with a focus on Branding and Packaging.
Throughout my career, I developed skills from different areas of design. I had a general knowledge of typography, branding, and digital design. To a large extent, the academic plan of the University of Monterrey propelled that the focus of my education will be guided to a system of interdisciplinary and communal collaboration.
